Humbertalking has set our priorities, this month we are to:
1. Improve Road Safety around our schools.
Seasonal trends are: a. Tackling vehicle Crime
b. Prevention of Residential dwelling Burglaries.
Here’s a summary of crimes that have been reported across Mid Holderness last month:
Domestic Related incidents: (six investigations)
Harassment x1, Assault x 5.
Residential Burglary reports: (No Reports)
Business Burglary reports: (No reports)
Thefts: (four investigations)
08/01/2026 Theft A165, LONG RISTON – Make off without payment for fuel.
09/01/2026 Theft North Street, ALDBROUGH – water tank taken from rear garden.
24/01/2026 Theft A165, LONG RISTON – Make off without payment for fuel.
24/01/2026 Theft A165, LONG RISTON – theft of a toy from shop.
Vehicle Crime: (two investigations)
26/01/2026 attempt theft of Land Rover discovery, Headlands Road ALDBROUGH
29/01/2026 damage to vehicle rear windscreen, Lime Tree Lane, BILTON
Damage: (One investigation)
08/01/2026 damage shop window, Main Road, BURTON PIDSEA.
Public order x 2, assault x 3, Blackmail x 1, neighbour disputes x1, Fraudulent use of vehicle number plate x1 and 1x anti-social behaviour reported in January across the Mid Holderness ward area.
Humber-talking has set our priorities, this month we are to:
1. Improve Road Safety – around our school.
As with most other areas, road safety is something in which we can improve upon in our rural communities. Action
We hold regular proactive road safety campaigns with the Highways Authority which include speed enforcement in hot spot locations.
With the return of all children to our primary schools after the Holidays, the Community Team will be conducting patrols around the schools making sure that the roads are safe for everyone especial for our young members outside the schools’ gates. Seasonal Trend Calendar activities are:
1. Tackling Vehicle Crime
This period is always one of our busiest, however, we would like to offer reassurance to residents and a stark reminder to those intent of causing harm or committing offences, that we are out in force and ready to act against anyone involved in vehicle crime.
UPDATE - During January, reports vehicle crime fell to two reports..
Action - aims to:
• reduce vehicle related crime.
• raise awareness within the local community about vehicle security.
• provide crime prevention advice to community members.
Intended outcome:
The intended outcomes are to:
• reduce the number of recorded crimes related to Theft from Motor Vehicles (TFMV)
• enhance security measures to protect the registered keeper. 2. Preventing Residential dwelling Burglaries.
During the winter months, it is usual for us to see crimes such as burglary and theft rise, particularly if houses and vehicles are unattended.
Burglars are often opportunistic thieves who prey on houses, garages, sheds and outbuildings. They seek out any opening that they can take advantage of, specifically doors and windows that are left open or unlocked or are easy to force.

During the winter months, members of the Holderness Policing Team will continue be out to Minimise crime and ASB.
Maximise crime reduction opportunities by targeting offenders and providing advice to homes and businesses. Minimise the risk of becoming a victim of crime through high visibility patrolling. Engagements: In February 2026, the dates and locations are as follows: 5th- Thursday 7pm the Village Hall, Main Street, WAWNE 9th- Monday 7pm Village Sports Hall, Garton Road, ALDBROUGH 10th- Tuesday 7pm Bilton Parish Council, Village Hall, Main Road, BILTON 11th- Wednesday 7pm Parish Council, St.Alban’s Church, WITHERNWICK 14th- Saturday 11:30am the Village Hall, Swine Lane, CONISTON March 4th- Wednesday 7:30pm the Village Hall, Main Road, LONG RISTON Schools will be visited during the morning and afternoon commute.
